San
Felipe Mexico fishing.
The warm waters of the Sea of Cortez is an ideal for fish and
marine life to excell. The shrimp and food sources are plentiful
so the predator fish are naturally attracted to the area. They
are not only plentiful but grow fast and many grow to giant sizes
for their species.
Fishing from shore or close by shore one might catch bass, sierra
and triggerfish. As you move a bit farther out one might expect
to find yellowtail and corvina. Fishing is generally better south
of San Felipe where you may catch a variety of fish including
grouper, seabass, rock cod, rooster fish, an occasional
dorado, marlin or tuna and a variety of bottom fish species.
If you bring your own boat you can launch it at several boat ramps
including the El Cortez Motel, Rubens, El Jacalito
RV Park and at Club De Pesca. The tide levels change drastically
in San Felipe so be sure to check out the tide charts before
leaving shore.
